Winter skincare hacks you should know

by Unathi Balele

Taking care of your skin during the winter months requires a bit of extra effort, but it’s well worth it.

Though winter is a beautiful time of the year, with all the longer evenings and hot chocolate, it can also be a challenging time for your skin, especially if you live in a cold and dry climate. The cold weather can strip your skin of moisture, leaving it dry, flaky, and irritated.

Here are some winter skincare hacks by The Naked Chemist that can help you keep your skin healthy and hydrated during the winter months.

  1. Hydrate from the inside out: One of the best things you can do for your skin during the winter months is to stay hydrated. Drinking plenty of water is essential for maintaining healthy skin. Aim to drink at least eight glasses of water a day to keep your skin hydrated and healthy.
  2. Use a gentle cleanser: Using a gentle cleanser is important during the winter months, as harsh cleansers can strip your skin of its natural oils. Look for a gentle, hydrating cleanser that will cleanse your skin without drying it out.
  3. Moisturise, moisturise, moisturise: Moisturising is key to keeping your skin healthy and hydrated during the winter months. Look for a rich, hydrating moisturiser that will help to lock in moisture and keep your skin soft and supple.
  4. Don’t forget the sunscreen: Just because it’s cold outside doesn’t mean you can skip the sunscreen. UV rays can still penetrate through the clouds, and the reflection of the snow can intensify their effects. Make sure to apply sunscreen to your face and other exposed areas of your skin, even on cloudy days.
