Throughout the years, various braiding hairstyles have become popular in the black community as people always look for ways to elevate their hairstyles.

Just like any other curly braids, goddess braids are a type of hairstyle most people love, as it resemble a goddess with a curly texture allowing you to not have the same hairstyle.

Doing goddess braids can be nice but one needs to understand that it constantly needs maintenance due to the curls tangling together, and you are probably wondering what you need to do to ensure that your hairstyle is fresh and tangle-free.

According to haircare expert, TRESemme, this popular hairstyle has become a trend as it offers a blend of texture, uniqueness and flair.

The above-mentioned source adds that because of the hairstyle’s free-flowing curls a person’s hair can end up tied in a knot, adding that, to prevent that you can use products from the store so they can keep your braids fresh, healthy and nourished for longer.

Next time you book your monthly hair appointment do goddess braids but remember to use these tips to keep them fresh:

  • Moisturise your curls: Dry curls result in tangles, GlamourSA adds that you need to always add moisturise to the curls as a way to define them. Try using an olive oil mousse for your hair or spray it.
  • Invest in good-quality fibre: When doing these braids you should always make sure you buy a hairpiece that can be burnt or just good quality hair as it ensures that your braids last longer.
  • Get a spritz bottle: GlamourSA says, “Another way to revive and moisturise the curls is to spritz them with water then apply a small amount of curl cream or mousse afterwards.”
  • Refresh your curls frequently: Over time your curls will become less defined resulting in you having to add boiling water as a way to curl them.
