Although makeup provides assistance in enhancing your naturally-gorgeous face, you can also be more playful with your products every now and then.

As a beginner in makeup, it is essential to know the importance of a proper application technique. This ensures that your makeup does not crease or look sticky but affords you a finished, flawless look.

In her YouTube video, South African beauty and fashion influencer Naledi Matabane demonstrates a step-by-step guide to achieving a flawless look. She shares her basic application technique, giving viewers an insight into using makeup to enhance their features.

Here are tips for a flawless makeup application:

  • As you prepare your blender, always remember to dampen it so that your products can blend smoothly.
  • Moisturise your skin either with sunscreen or any day cream. This smoothes your skin before applying your foundation and concealer.
  • Use a primer that suits your skin type either for hydrating your skin or for closing off your pores.
  • Brush your eyebrows upwards and use eyebrow gel to keep your brows in place.
  • Use a colour corrector that gets rid of discolouration in your skin.
  • Foundation that matches your skin tone makes you look more natural.
  • Highlight and contour has to be two shades lighter and always remember to blend while doing these steps.
  • Your setting powder is used to reduce the appearance of excess oils in the skin.
  • Bronzer can be used if you like, but it is not necessary.
  • Highlight is used to enhance your skin tone and bone structure.
