As we activate our hot girl summer season and explore different things, many of us have started looking at enhancing our natural features such as our lashes. Heading to a lash technician with just a picture of what you would like is often never enough.

If that is the case, then you are most likely to get follow up questions such as “what length are you going for” and “which curl pattern would you prefer.”

Understanding lash curl types

According to The Lash Professional – provides eyelash extension products and education programs – lash extensions are available in various “lengths, thicknesses, and, most importantly, curl types.” With curl types playing a crucial role in ensuring that lash techs achieve the perfect look and style that the clients had hoped for.

Lash extension curl types:

  • B Curl: The Soft Curve

Cherrylink group – permanent makeup specialists operating in South Africa and abroad- explains that these usually have a natural appearance, with a natural curl and natural life but, however have a straight base at the tip of the lash. They are considered as the second most natural looking lash extensions with a more subtle volume and considerable length.

  • C Curl: The Classic Curve

BL lashes – eyelash extension store – states that this lash curve is known to create an open eye effect. It also gives a curl lift for clients who have more downward angled lashes. Resulting in a doll eyed and glamorous effect.

  • D Curl: The Dramatic Arch

The Lash Professional states “Ideal for clients with naturally curled eyelashes who want a glamorous, statement style.”  It is also quite similar to the C curl but just with a more curl.

  • J Curl: The Natural Lift

“These are especially suitable for clients who have stick straight lashes pointing straight or upward,” states BL Lashes. These are said to be subtle with a very natural effect.

  • L Curl: The Luscious Look

This curl creates that wide-eyed effect as they come highly advised for individuals with “downward-pointing natural eyelashes.” These provide that eyelid lift that opens up your eyes.
