Layer up! Winter-approved ways to style your maxi dress

The months, June, July and August, can be cruel, but our wardrobe doesn’t have to lose its personality just because the temperature dropped.

When winter arrives, we put away our summertime favourites, but your maxi dress doesn’t have to be one of them. Even on the coldest days, it can become a go-to item with the correct styling.

Maxi dresses are more adaptable than most people realise. Their flowing silhouette enables imaginative layering, and their length adds warmth to the outfit and fits perfectly with the cold season.

They can be dressed to fit any wintertime mood, whether you’re going to work or going out to dinner. Understanding how to layer effectively is key to adding warmth without sacrificing form or style.

House of Nala, home of African luxury, claims that the maxi dress is versatile and office-appropriate, suitable for meetings and after-work events. For a more polished look, team it with a fitted blazer, a slim belt, and timeless pumps, and for warmth and style, pair it with tights, boots, or a fitted turtleneck or chunky knit sweater.

According to AYM Studio, you can accessorise a maxi dress with Doc Martens, chunky boots, knee-high boots or a casual sweater and heels. You can also add a jacket and a chunky necklace as accessories with a cropped sweater for a night out.

Wear a boho-chic and warm maxi dress in winter with an elegant trench coat, tights and leggings, and faux fur accents. Add a scarf, a bun in your hair, and statement earrings for a chic look, KOSHA suggests.
