How to take care of your hair this season

by Limpho Nonkonyane
HAIR: PEXELS

Warmer seasons sometimes cause your hair to become dry leading to a lot of breakage in it. However, you don’t need to worry about that as there are methods that will help curb that issue.

According to haircare hub, Carol’s Daughter, hair protection in the summer season is vital as once your hair becomes overly exposed to the sun it can cause your hair to dry out or your hair colour to change, adding that, because most people are taking on swimming activities it is important to not exposure your hair to the chlorine chemicals in pools as it will damage your spilt-ends but rather opt to wear a swimming hat.

One should also understand that your hair treatment in the summer times will differ from the winter season as the temperatures are not the same during a season change.

HAIR: PEXELS

Follow these haircare tips this season:

  • Understand your hair type: Select hair care products that are specific to your hair type.
  • Wash your hair based on how dirty or oily it becomes- Shampoo your dry, textured, curly, or thick hair once every 2-3 weeks.
  • To cleanse and remove built-up products and excess oil, use shampoo on the scalp rather than the entire length of the hair.
  • After washing, apply conditioner to the ends of fine or straight hair; for dry or curly hair, apply to the entire length.
  • Be gentle- Use a wide-tooth comb to untangle wet hair. Comb thick, curly hair in the shower before rinsing with conditioner. Let straight hair dry before combing.
