Puffy eyes, typically referred to as periorbital puffiness, can occur for a number of reasons – not getting enough sleep, allergies or just an a result of a good old crying session. If you are trying to find a way to reduce the appearance of puffy eyes, read further for some easy tips you can try at home.

See below four home remedies to get rid of the bags under your eyes, as explained by Medical News Today.

Applying a cold compress

Applying a cold compress to the eyes can help with inflammation and swelling as it reduces blood flow. Using an ice pack, a bag of vegetables, or even refrigerated or frozen spoons can do the trick.

Alternatively, you can soak a towel or washcloth in cold water and apply it to the eye area for 5–10 minutes at a time.

Use an eye roller

Usually made of metal, this device may help to reduce puffiness, dark circles, and offer anti-ageing benefits. It may also provide a mini-massage to the under-eye area, which helps boost circulation.

Cucumber slices

Because of the high water content it possesses, cucumbers hydrate the skin and reduces swelling. This makes it similar to a cold compress. Furthermore, cucumbers can also help reduce dark circles as it contains vitamin K as well as having anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activity.

Tea bags

Key ingredients in tea bags that can help diminish puff eyes are tannin and caffeine. Tannin restricts body tissue while caffeine can increase blood circulation in the skin. When opting for this home remedy, many people use green tea, black tea, or chamomile tea bags.

If you would like to apply this remedy, simply steep the tea bag in warm water, chill the bag in the refrigerator, and then place the tea bag on each eye for a few minutes.
