Over the years, we have seen the evolution of the girlie’s makeup routine, where makeup lovers went from full-facebeats to wearing less makeup.
The current 2017 vs 2024 makeup routine trend on TikTok showcases how much your makeup routine has changed.
According to GlamourSA, in 2024, most makeup lovers have ditched wearing bold eyeshadow or lip colours as they have chosen more subtle makeup looks where they have embodied the ‘less is more’ concept.
Wearing makeup is good, as it enhances your natural looks, but in this day and age, people like to look simple instead of wearing makeup looks that are too dramatic.
LA-based makeup artist, Tasha Reiko Brown says, “Striking shapes, trendy reverse liner, and bold lines draw attention to the eyes.”
In 2024, we were introduced to the no-makeup look and the no-foundation look, where people just preferred going bare-faced.
Beauty hub, Women also mentioned that in both years red lips have dominated the makeup industry. According to makeup artist Micheal Anthony, “Trends tend to be cyclical, and red lipstick is a classic that we haven’t seen trending in a while. It’s such a bold and sexy statement that is ready for a revamp. A reimagined retro throwback can be cyber-inspired It Girl or classic Hollywood.”
