To keep your accessories shiny and beautiful, try these five home hacks advised by Real Simple, a go-to source for lifestyle advice, and Good Housekeeping, an information hub with home-related topics:

  1. According to Real Simple, if you want to clean a piece of silver jewellery, make a paste of baking soda and water and use a soft cloth to rub it on the jewellery. Rinse and dry with a soft cloth.
  2. For brass or copper jewellery, make a paste of lemon juice and baking soda and apply it to the jewellery. Let it sit for 10 minutes and then rinse with water and dry with a soft cloth, says the above-mentioned hub.
  3. If it is costume jewellery, soak it in a solution of 1 cup of white vinegar and 1 cup of water, advises Good Housekeeping.
  4. According to Real Simple, to clean pearls, use a soft cloth dipped in a solution of 1/2 cup of water and 1/2 teaspoon of mild dish soap.
  5. Good Housekeeping says for gemstones, use a soft cloth dipped in a solution of 1/2 cup of warm water and 1 tablespoon of ammonia.
