10 looks that prove Doja Cat is the ultimate fashion chameleon

In a world of people trying to “break the internet,” fashion sensationalism and looks designed to shock the audience have become over-saturated.

Still, there are those who pull off over-the-top looks effortlessly, creatively and most importantly, fearlessly.

Doja Cat (Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini) stands on her own two feet when it comes to her fashion choices. Described by some as a commitment to “metamorphic fashion” and as a “live sculpture” to others,to me, her inspired ensembles are more often than not an ode to her ability to amplify art.

Gorgeously ridiculous, Doja’s relationship with fashion and beauty plays on a lot of fun, doing the impulsive things most wouldn’t have the guts too, and bringing art into the most unexpected spaces (like her eyebrows).

If you happened to miss her head-to-toe chilli red ensemble at Schiaparelli’s Paris Couture Week show, let’s just say it was a refreshing sight amid others who looked unintentionally stiff.

30 000 crystals and nearly five hours later, Pat Mcgrath’s vision for Doja became one of the most talked about moments of the show.

Still, those who have kept up with Doja’s fashion and beauty for some time—especially in the past year— know that this isn’t even one of her most creative looks (or her first commitment to full body paint).

‘Fashion’s chameleon’; someone who can seamlessly integrate into any look or occasion, should be Doja’s unofficial title, and these looks prove it:

Gold and blue luxe

In October, for Paris Fashion Week’s Womenswear Spring/Summer shows, Doja channeled gold luxe better than some statues.

Shoulder pads that the 80s would be envious of

The art of the shaved eyebrow

Bold and shaved eyebrows became synonymous with Doja’s beauty choices:

Give the nipple some space

Not many people can #FreeTheNipple whilst looking like a space goddess at the 2022 Billboard Music Awards, but Doja can and did.

Queen of the stage

Playful elegance

Playful glam or elegance walks a fine line, but Doja’s 2022 Grammy Awards’ looks understood the assignment.

Even when she donned a slightly more traditional gown, her ability to seamlessly mold into any look gave her an award beyond her Grammy in the past year—fashion’s must-see.
