“Moyo was later seen driving the police vehicle, which was subsequently found abandoned a few kilometres from the crime scene,” the police said in a statement.
National police commissioner General Fannie Masemola condemned the murders as a direct attack on the state’s authority, noting that 27 officers were killed in the past financial year and six since April.
He urged officers to use proportional force when necessary and vowed to track down Jabulani, warning the public that he is extremely dangerous.
Police are also offering another R150,000 reward for information on suspects who killed Sergeant Lawrence Mtshweni (47) during a business burglary response in Schoemansdal, Mpumalanga.
The Hawks are leading investigations into both cases.
