Zandile Khumalo – Gumede penned down an open letter to the president of the republic of South Africa Mr Cyril Ramaphosa, pleading with him to prioritise Senzo Meyiwa’s 8-year-old murder case.

The Ikhwela singer has taken a stand in court as one of the witnesses who was present in her home when Senzo was killed in October 2o14. Zandie has been very vocal about wanting the case to run and conclude in order for all the families to find closure and move forward with their lives.

In an Instagram post with a closed comment section, the songstress shared the contents of the letter directed to the president. She captioned her post:

“This morning I wrote to the President of The Republic of South Africa and I also copied the office if the Chief Justice on the email and this. Is a copy of the letter before they feed u lies oNtabakayikhonjwa ?.”

The long letter to the president starts by Zandie introducing herself and acknowledging the president’s decision to recuse Judge Tshifhiwa Maumela, adding that she is not sure whether that is a good or a bad thing.

She continued, adding:

“Mr President … I would like to request a serious prioritization of the Senzo Meyiwa case moving forward. My biggest wish would be to try and put a bit of pace to the proceedings of this case. I would like for the sake of the families who haven’t found closure after so long to request that one court is earmarked specifically for this case, a specific law team is also appointed to deal with nothing else but this case from Monday to Friday, up until it is concluded, and a verdict has been given.”

In her concluding statement the mother of one added:

“People have been bleeding for 8 years Mr President and prolonging and dragging this case even more won’t help them in anyway, insults have been hurled, accusations have been thrown and theories have been created so it is in the best interest of the country at large that this case is prioritized and fast tracked.”
