Zandie Khumalo embraces polygamy, ‘I trust you’

by Sergio Miller

Renowned singer and songwriter Zandie Khumalo is embracing the journey of being involved in a polygamist marriage.

For many people, sharing a spouse with another woman is a decision that is simply not up for discussion. But Zandie has learned to embrace the new chapter of her life and refuses to stand in her husband’s way.

Earlier this year, rumours emerged that her husband, Mhloniswa Gumede, had been considering expanding his family by marrying a second wife. Zimoja at the time reported that his new love interest was alleged to be Nonjabulo Mdluli, the niece of the late founder of the Crown Gospel Awards Zanele Mbokazi.

While the news became public knowledge, Zandie has neither confirmed nor denied the rumours.

In an interview with the news publication OK Mzansi, she has hinted that she would be okay with whatever choice he makes.

“My husband loves me dearly, and I love him even more. I love that man, and I care about him, and I want nothing bad to happen to him.”

Meanwhile, the sister of Kelly Khumalo recently took to Instagram, where she confirmed that the news was true. She revealed that she was content with the idea and is currently embracing the new family dynamics.

In her post, she wrote: “Not me writing a song that says ‘Soze ngama endleleni ye Njabulo yakho’ and a few momemts later my husband introduces a lady called ‘Njabulo’ to me as my sister wife and his second wife”.

She added: Ziyawushaya ke maduze kade ngavuma Mnguni ka Phakathwayo sihole singabakho. As long nje ungakhalanga njengalowa baba wangakini eMzumbe but I trust you”.

Meanwhile, those in the comment section were filled with mixed opinions concerning the matter.

“I like the way you embrace polygamy. It shows you are 100% a Zulu girl,” wrote one user. However, another wrote, “I will die the wedding ceremony, or how is it done?”
