According to IOL, Zakes said the idea behind the festival was to do something for the people.

“When we first came up with the idea for Abantu, the idea was to do something special for the people. It took us some time to get it right, but I think we finally have a well-rounded event property that everyone can look forward to,” he added.

Speaking to TimesLIVE, Zakes said a few surprise acts will also be part of the concert at DHL Stadium on October 28.

“We have an incredible line-up that I believe will bring a unique flavour to a local concert that’s unlike any we’ve seen before. This is just the beginning, and I can’t wait for everyone to see what we have in store for this historic show,” Zakes said.

He also said there will be three shows taking place, with 25 000 for the first, 45 000 for the second and 62 000 for the last one. He also said he was excited to work alongside Cape Town mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis and the City of Cape Town and thanked them for the opportunity to host his concert.
