Woolies promises Ox Nché cake for a year

Saturday’s game between the Springboks and the English rugby team was nothing short of disappointing, nail-biting, and inspiring. After the Springboks secured a spot in the Rugby World Cup finals against New Zealand, many are crediting prop Retshegofaditswe ‘Ox’ Nché for the achievement, so much so that he was offered a sweet reward.

Ox displayed great strength on the field by winning a series of scrum penalties that changed things for the better for the South African team, leading the team to a 16-15 victory against the British. To give props to the prop for his contribution, retail giant Woolworths posted a picture of Ox with a slice of cake and a sign that read, “Salads don’t win scrums,” on X (formerly Twitter). The post’s caption read:

“Dear Ox, please reach out to us for a year’s supply of chocolate cake. After last night, it’s a South African priority.”

A Springboks supporter headed to the comment section to joke that the rugby player should have an English muffin. Responding to the comment, Woolworths wrote, “Already eaten English for dinner though?”

Many also commented that instead of Ox reaching out to Woolworths, they should rather reach out to him.

Imagine the greatest scrum of our time reaching out to a retailer ???. Aniphilanga nina https://t.co/wQz9E5aVt7
