William Last KRM Pays Tribute to Late Friend with Heartfelt EP ‘BrUnO’
Multi-talented entertainer William Last KRM, born Bofelo William Molebatsi, is set to release one of his most personal projects yet. The EP, titled “BrUnO”, will drop on Saturday, November 22, marking a deeply emotional milestone in the Botswana-born artist’s career.
The seven-track project is a tribute to a close friend whose passing continues to shape KRM’s creative journey. Known for viral hits like “How It Feels”, “Peka Peka”, and “Iy-Yi”, KRM has built a reputation for blending humor, storytelling, and genre-crossing sounds, but with BrUnO, he strips back the humor to reveal a reflective and vulnerable side.
“‘BrUnO’ is dedicated to my late friend. He was more than a friend — he was a brother who supported me through everything,” KRM told Independent Media Lifestyle. “He would always show up for my video shoots, even at the last minute. He genuinely believed in my work.”
A Project Rooted in Memory and Emotion
Creating BrUnO was far from easy. The title track, written in memory of his friend, brought an intense emotional challenge.
“Writing and recording the title song was intense. I don’t think I’ll ever listen to it again,” he admitted.
“The whole project carries emotions of loss, love, and resilience. It celebrates the memories that made him special. It wasn’t about processing grief, it was my way of saying goodbye through music.”
The EP blends hip hop and soul, pairing heartfelt lyrics with thoughtful production. KRM worked with five producers from Botswana to ensure the sound remained authentic to his roots, while collaborations with South African rapper YoungstaCPT and Botswana’s Scar and Ozi F Teddy added diverse textures to the project.
“I wanted the music to feel real, something that reflects both my journey and Bruno’s legacy,” he said. “Each feature brings a unique energy, but the heart of the EP remains deeply personal.”
Beyond the Laughs: KRM’s Musical Depth
While KRM is widely celebrated for his comedy and viral skits, he emphasized that music is where he explores raw emotion.
“Most people know me for comedy, but music has always been my outlet,” he explained.
“My comedy is visual, often inspired by real life with a funny twist, but my music goes deeper. ‘BrUnO’ shows another side of me — the storyteller who feels, reflects, and grows.”
Balancing comedy and music isn’t easy. While comedy drives much of his bookings and public persona, music serves as his emotional release.
“Comedy makes people laugh, but music lets me express what laughter can’t,” KRM noted.
A Farewell and a Celebration
With the EP’s release imminent, KRM hopes listeners will connect with its emotional core.
“I want people to feel what I felt — the love, the pain, the resilience,” he shared.
“‘BrUnO’ is a farewell and a celebration. It’s about remembering the ones we’ve lost and keeping their spirit alive in what we create. True connections never die; they live on through the art and the memories we share.”
