Will the real Musa Khawula please stand up?

After rumours circulated about the controversial blogger Musa Khawula’s death, a post from a similarly named account appeared, saying: “Why are you all lying saying I’m dead…? Tell Somizi he must breathe, I still got news for days kuzonyiwa.”

However, TV personality Somizi Mhlongo quickly dismissed the account, stating, “Shem, you’re trying too hard and failing badly at emulating him.”

Many users on X weighed in, agreeing that the clapbacks weren’t from the real Musa Khawula. One user, @Rosekennybells, wrote, “He is so boring this isn’t Musa’s handwriting.”

Another user, @Mohkelepinky, added humour to the situation, saying: “Be gentle, Somgaga hle, it’s their first day on the job”.

The suspicion grew as @Liramothibz pointed out, “True, last active in 2020 and now surfacing with 3.4k followers when hearing that real Musa is not around.”

Interestingly, the @Musa_Khawula account, which boasts 124K followers, had been inactive until just days after Musa’s arrest in court. This left many wondering if the account was authentic or someone was attempting to impersonate the controversial figure.

According to IOL, Musa admitted during an interview on a YouTube channel to stabbing and killing his ex-partner Wandile Khambule but maintained that he was defending himself.

The dramatic arrest while in court stems from a civil case in Gauteng. Musa was ordered to retract defamatory remarks made in a social media post against Nozuko Mbalula, the wife of ANC secretary-general Fikile Mbalula.

He was also ordered to pay R1 million in damages.

The Citizen reported that Musa claimed that Nozuko and her business partner Michelle Perrow paid a bribe to secure government tenders worth R150 million.
