Popular Durban actor and singer Zuluboy, real name Mxolisi Mgingqeni Majozi, has been vocal in his support for the uMkhonto we Sizwe (MK) party in the run-up to the 2024 elections.
Reports point to the 48-year-old artist being appointed by the fledgling party as MEC for Sport, Arts and Recreation in Kwazulu-Natal.
The former Durban Gen star serves as a member of the party’s creative council.
The MK party emerged as the leading party in KZN as the results of the national and provincial elections were announced on Sunday night. The party leads the legislature with 37 seats.
The party, led by former president Jacob Zuma, made significant inroads, in the May 29 elections. MK was launched on December 16, 2023, and managed to garner 58 seats in the country’s National Assembly.
Zuluboy is currently embroiled in a court battle with Mzansi Magic’s Umkhokha: The Curse.
This comes after the production company replaced him in the role he was cast for. No explanation was reportedly given to Zuluboy.
The lead role of Mlungisi in the series was given to Nkanyiso Mchunu, reported ZiMoja.
Zuluboy is also known for his roles in Uzalo and Gold Diggers.
According to The Citizen, Zuluboy considered the offer made after his recasting as “an insult”.
But it’s not all glum news. Briefly News reported that the rapper’s new track “will have a strong message,” to mark the country celebrating 30 years of democracy. The song will end the hip hop/Maskandi artist’s hiatus from the industry.
