WATCH: Woman apologises for hitting Rachel Kolisi with rugby ball

by Staff Bona

A young woman has come out and apologised after a video of her throwing a rugby ball towards the rugby trophy tour bus in Cape Town went viral.

In a video shared by the Instagram account Rugby Pass, the university student, whose name is Eva Henry, is seen standing on a balcony and throwing the ball in the direction of Springbok captain Siya, who fails to catch it. The ball then bounces onto his wife Rachel’s head forcing her to instantly slide down into her chair with pain.

Eva is visibly mortified after the occurence of the unfortunate incident.

Eva took to TikTok yesterday to share her “deepest apologies” to Rachel while also sharing that she had been getting “a lot of hate” for the incident.

After first denying her involvement in the rugby ballgate when asked about it, she confessed on her TikTok account, “I won’t lie to you, but that is me in the video. I hit Rachel Kolisi with a rugby ball.” She continued, “It was never my intention to hit Rachel with a rugby ball. I did not want to hit the first lady with a rugby ball, but it happened, and I can’t go back in time, I just can’t.”

Reiterating that the act was not done on purpose, Eva added, “Rachel Kolisi, Siya Kolisi or anyone else on the Springbok team, if you are seeing this, I sincerely apologise for hitting the first lady on the head with a rugby ball. I sincerely apologise.”

Eva also shared that there was a letter attached to the rugby ball, and that she will only provide more context on the letter once her apology video goes viral.
