WATCH: Tony Forbes reveals that Mbali Mlotshwa was AKA’s first girlfriend

It is almost a year since Kiernan Forbes better known as AKA was shot in the head in a sight that later circulated over the internet, leaving many mzansi citizens in disbelief.

The family of the late rapper have made sure to keep his legacy going, recently hosting an event in celebration of his life and work on his birthday in January.

In a sit down with Hazel of the Within with Hazel podcast, AKA’s father, Tony Forbes revealed details about the rapper’s first relationship, his relationship with the late Anele Tembe and more.

While chatting about his son’s relationships, Tony shared:

“Mbali was his first girlfriend. Do you know Mbali, Black Coffee’s ex-wife? That was his first. I always thought Mbali was going to be my daughter-in-law.

He added:

“I loved Mbali, I still love Mbali. She’s talented, and beautiful, as I love Nadia. That’s my nature.”

The podcaster asked if Tony knew why Kiernan preferred dating black women over coloured and he responded saying he didn’t know.

She further added:

“He tried with Nadia but …” Tony concluded asking if Nadia was coloured.

He also shared that Kiernan and the late Anele Tembe who died while on vacation with AKA were not “good for each other”. He shared that they were in “different stages of their lives,” adding that there was an aggressive side to Kiernan, and that he also had a heart of gold.
