WATCH: Penny Ntuli’s former colleagues mock her live on air

After news broke that Penny Ntuli revealed she was offered a monthly salary of R2800 from Gagasi FM, many internet users expressed disappointment and sympathy. However, it seems her former colleagues Minnie Ntuli and Felix Hlophe were far from sympathetic.

Penny recently released a statement confirming the rumours that she would not return to the Durban-based radio station.

She stated, “Yebo ngiyashiya emsebenzini (Yes, I am quitting my job). It was time to renew contracts and I was given the opportunity to come back this season. I gladly accepted the new show until I was told ukuthi (that) I’ll be getting paid R 2800 per month. (Something not too far from what I was getting paid the past two years).”

Penny further shared that she felt disrespected and explained to her boss Ayanda Melansi that the salary would not allow her to take care of her family, nor would she be able to get credit. Ayanda’s alleged response was that she should look for other jobs to balance her R2800 payment offer from the radio station.

Now shared on social media by the online publication MDN News, Gagazi FM radio personalities Minnie and Felix have been accused of mocking Penny’s situation as seen in the video below.

Many found Felix and Minnie to be insensitive. One X user commented, “Tables turn hey. Penny Ntuli might just have the last laugh. I actually wish she does.”

While another person wrote, “If Felix had kept it moving it wouldn’t have been a big deal, him reacting like this makes it seem like she said ‘Penny’ instead of ‘Phenyi’ (pink eye) but she has plausible deniability. It will come down to how Penny will take it, intention only matters to the mocker.”
