Radio personality Penny Ntuli took to social media to address a few things following a video she shared that led to backlash from netizens, and a stern warning from Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC).
In the widely shared video, Penny dances, lies down and waves towards oncoming vehicles, mostly trucks, on a busy N3.
Taking to her TikTok page, the former Gagasi FM radio presenter said she is not apologising but addressing a few things.
“Please don’t be on the freeway doing what I did because it’s not safe,” she said. The Jozi FM presenter admitted that the location was dangerous and apologised to those who pointed out the risk of distracting drivers and potentially causing an accident.
However, Penny maintained that she was not apologising for the video itself. She explained that her response was meant to clear up misconceptions, adding that if she were to apologise for everything people criticised her for, she would never stop apologising.
She apologised to followers who politely expressed concern about the video.
“It is only them that I will say sorry to because I understand that they’re coming from a place of concern. I even saw others saying ‘I don’t mean it in a bad way, but where you’re doing your video is not safe'” she said.
@pennyntuli126Please note this is NOT an apology video, just addressing a few things, phela umuntu angaxolisa njalo mengaphika nani… ♥️♬ original sound – MaNtuli
After the viral video, RTMC said:
The RTMC is astonished by this behaviour on our national roads. Pedestrians under the NRTA are prohibited 🚫 on the freeways and it’s illegal.
Content creators should not risk their lives for “LIKES”. #NizofaNina
