If there’s one thing South Africans are good at doing, it is to find humour in anything, whether serious, painful or shocking.

Comedian, MC and podcaster Mpho Popps along with other popular comedians re-created the video of an inmate bragging about his prison soft life detailing, “Hello haters, you put us in prison and you think we are suffering? No! My brother, we are doing extremely fine, look how happy we are.”

He went on to add, “We are not paying rent, we are not buying electricity, we don’t cook food, they cook for us. We don’t need toiletries, we get them for free and the education is going to be free in prison, if you think we are suffering no my brother, you are very wrong.”

Mpho re-made the video wearing orange overalls similar to the one worn by inmates, with other comedians mimicking convicted murderer Thabo Bester and controversial blogger, Musa Khawula, who is facing a murder charge.

He shared, “Mdala, to all the hater we’ve got WiFi in here.”

While laughing he added, “Checkers sixty-sixty delivers in here. We’ve got electricity no more prepaid, free! On my birthday I had cake, not the fruit kind.”

Looking at a comedian mimicking Thabo Bester who was entering the scene, he asked, “Hey Thabo, what are you doing here.”

The comedian responded, “Hey they are fast hey,” referring to how Thabo Bester was caught after escaping from prison.

Mpho continued, “Hey Mdala our friends are back from vacation, we take vacations in here. We are going back to school, next year we are going to our matric dance together.”

The video was shared by the comedian on social media platforms leaving many internet users in stitches.
