During the weekend, the Cotton Fest hosted its 5th edition of the Cotton Festival with #VoteCottonFest as the theme in Sandton.

Cotton Fest is a celebration of the new wave in youth culture, centred around music, fashion, lifestyle, sports and culture. It was created by the late Soth African music icon Rikhado Makhado popularly known as Riky Rick and the movement started in 2019.

South African deejaying duo, Major League DJz made their first appearance at the Cotton Fest since their cousin Riky’s passing.

The duo is made up of the Mbere twin brothers, Bandile and Banele who are famously known for their balcony mix. Taking to Instagram, they shared a video of them laying at the Cotton Fest. In their caption, they wrote, “We haven’t done Cotten Fest since the passing of our cousin Riky Rick.”

“It brings joy to our hearts that the kids are attending the event in numbers and youth has a platform to showcase their talent through his creation, wherever he is, his heart of full of joy,” they added.

Concluding their caption they wrote, “Cotton Eaters Never Die, We Multiply.”
