WATCH: Inspiration behind Etzebeth’s new haircut

Upon welcoming our Rugby World Champions back home yesterday as they embark of their trophy tour. We couldn’t help but notice that a few of them had noticeable changes whilst some others had no changes since the last time we saw them on our screens.

While this had some viewers wondering and worrisome, many couldn’t help but notice the hairstyle change to our jersey number 4 Springbok lock, Eben Etzebeth, affectionately known as “Elizabedi.”

The Springbok player has had the spotlight on him ever since concluding the final match as he and his superstar wife, Anlia Etzebeth revealed their baby bump.

According to Cape Talk the notable haircut was courtesy of Eben alongside his Pretoria born Springbok teammate RG Snyman. In the video, Eben shares that these two got up to this mischievousness at around 5am in the morning. Cape Talk further says that “Snyman lived to surname and- sny’ing Etzebeth’s hair amid celebrations.”

The thought of this fresh Mohawk hairstyle began as a conversation between RG and Eben 5 weeks ago. In the video Eben shares that he had made a bet that if they are to win the Rugby World Cup, he would cut his hair in the same hairstyle that RG has.

When asked about the inspiration behind his new haircut he shared.

“Obviously after the win it was about half past four in the morning. I mean, the last time I drank water was in the game and we weren’t drinking water”

Further sharing the occurrences as to how the haircut came about, he added, “…and he just reminded me of my bet and obviously I wanted to be a man on my word. I mean winning this cup with these guys I’ll do anything, so I decided to cut my hair.”

While reaching the most intriguing part of the story he continues “he sat me down and Damain Willemse cut my hair. I’ve gotten a few compliments from all my friends and my wife also says it’s not too bad.”

He further concluded the video by mentioning that he is pleased as long his wife remains happy
