WATCH: Babes Wodumo escorted out of premises after allegedly assaulting Durban designer

by Bongiwe Mati

South Africa’s self-titled queen of Gqom and dancer Babes Wodumo, real name Bongekile Simelane was seen trending after a video of a heated altercation between her and Durban designer was shared on social media.

In a video shared by popular blog Maphephandaba, the multi-award winning sensation exchanged words with Skee’s Designs brand owner after she allegedly went to attack her in her premises for saying the muso owes her money for her dancer’s outfits.

In the video, Babes can be seen escorted out of the premises by a few men. Footage shows Babes start swearing at the designer who swears back at her.

While still shouting at the designer, a gentleman asked the designer why she wrote about Babes owing her on her social media:

Skee’s Designs responded:

“Who said Babes owes me money, I said her dancers owe me money, but who do they work for?”

The woman shared the heated video with the popular blog, later sending a direct message that reads:

In a direct message sent by the designer whose goes by the name Skee’s Designs to the blog, the designer shared that the dancers had taken her t-shirts and caps for their IFP manifesto launch performance which was held in Hammersdale.

She added that they only left R150 after they did not have enough money for the items, they were supposed to return them the day after their performance. This happened on the 28th of February.

To date, the designer shared that the items had not been brought back to her, resulting in the loss of revenue which is her way of making a living.

“I have been asking them for almost 2 weeks to bring them back, but they keep giving me the go around, even today they had promised to come to the shop, and they did not. This business is how I make my daily bread, so I feel very disrespected as I will never look down on anyone’s hustle nor take advantage. I want them to bring back my items as I had told them they will owe me R550 in total, if they wanted the items, however, ONLY after they bring them back to the store and I will release them once they are paid for, said the designer.”

She went on to further detail the altercation, adding:

“So, Babes Wodumo and her entourage decided to come to my workplace, Sk’Dee Designs to attack me after I exposed her dancers. Babes came very drunk with her dancers and assaulted me and her bouncer also assaulted my business partner, Descreet Wear. They also threatened to shoot us. So, if anything happens to either of us, it will be by their hands.”
