Babes Wodumo is once more a trending topic on social media after videos of her dancing at her late mother-in-law, ZamaNguni Gumede’s funeral went viral.

Gumede, the mother of Kwaito musician Mandla “Mampintsha” Maphumulo, reportedly died at the age of 64 on Sunday, January 15 at Wentworth Hospital in Durban.

The South African gqom artist and choreographer took to Mampintsha’s Facebook to pay tribute to ZamaNguni.

“RIP Gogo Ka sponge ungikhonzele kumnyeni Wami  lala kahle Magumede [RIP grandmother, send my greetings to my husband. Rest in peace Magumede],” Babes wrote in the post.

Babes paid tribute to ZamaNguni in a different way when she danced at her funeral.

Once more, the public is divided on whether it was appropriate for Babes to also dance at the funeral of her mother-in-law.

There are people cheering for her, what if everyone else was dancing? What if this was her favourite song? Sometimes we need the whole picture and story before we start judging.

I think she is masking the pain. I hope she will be ok

They were not that close for her to be dancing at her funeral. This makes it looks like she’s celebrating her death.

That’s madness .. ain’t grieving at all.

She needs to be stopped !!

Okay Okay I get it, it doesn’t make it appropriate though. You can’t dance as it appears you are celebrating a death. But without context of their relationship, this can’t be normalised.
