South African socialite and reality TV star Vuyokazi Nguqu, popularly known as Vovo, has voiced out her concerns about the treatment she receives from the public.
The Short and Sweet TV star pleads with Mzansi to treat her with respect and dignity, and refrain from treating her like a child because of her voice and height.
She shared a video on social media, where she opened up about how the mockery and bullying made her feel.
“I want to address a few things, people who have brains will hear this video and stop, and the foolish ones won’t. Firstly, I’m unable to change my voice, I was born this way. Secondly, you don’t know how I grew up, but the way you abuse me is really bad, its worse that its women who bully me the most.
“You’ve never been in my shoes, you don’t even think about how long it took me to understand and accept my situation, but you make fun of the situation. I cannot change myself,” said Vovo.
She urged Mzansi to understand that she is an adult, despite being short and having a small voice.
“Respect me and I will respect you back. Don’t treat me as a stupid child. ”
She also said that when people meet her, they always cross boundaries and ask her about the storyline of her reality show.
“And when you meet me at the mall, stop asking me about Mayoghurt. I don’t stay with him and I’m not always with him. What happens on TV stays there. Don’t think that everything about myself is what happens on TV.”
