Picture this: The stage is set for one of the world’s most highly anticipated fashion shows to return after a six-year hiatus. Hundreds of the globe’s biggest A-listers are all in attendance, waiting in suspense, and then out comes a young South African superstar, slowly lifted onto the stage, Tyla emerges, to perform her life for the Victoria’s Secret crowd.

The queen of ‘popiano’ has shown the world exactly why she is the superstar she is today with a performance that served an equal amount of vocals, face, body and overall, as the youth would say: she is taking it, honey!

Donning an elegant metallic lingerie set, the ‘Water‘ hit-maker showed no signs of nerves, with a palpable confidence that only someone who has worked to be where they are can have. Tyla was fortunate to be among an all-female headlining cast, including international stars Cher and Lisa.

To make things even sweeter, the first model to walk out was South African legend Candice Swanepoel, who paved the way for many aspiring African super-models who did not think it was possible to find themselves on platforms of this stature. The mzansi connection furthers the ‘No DNA, just RSA’ agenda that South Africans continue to push. She performed one of the latest additions to her deluxe self-titled album ‘Push to Start‘, as well as the song that propelled her to the superstar she is today ‘Water‘.

The consensus among internet users is that mzansi’s golden girl should have been given the whole show to perform as she shone brighter than anyone on that stage. The success of this performance further confirms that this is Tyla’s time and she is here to stay.
