Usimamane drops Lucasraps collab amid leak

A collaboration that Hype Magazine described as “The one the streets have been waiting for,” will not make it out of the vaults, as uMlazi-born rapper Usimamane’s team published a statement claiming that the song’s release was unauthorised.

In the statement, All Star Entity, on behalf of Usimamane took to Instagram to urge fellow rapper Lucasraps, born Lucas Duncan Malong and his team to apologise and take accountability as the leak was a direct attack on their artist’s character.

“I understand that disagreements and creative differences are part of the music industry, but I will not be dragged into a public feud or engage in a war of words. Instead, I will continue to create positive and uplifting that inspires and uplifts my fans,” said Usimamane in the statement.

On the announcement of a collaboration of the two rappers fans, immediately speculated that the track would be a diss song directed to Usimamane’s fellow native Blxckie. This is because both Lucasraps and Usimamane have previously been at odds with Somnyama also known as Blxckie. Blxckie is said to have thrown the first stone with a jab directed at Lucasraps, and possibly Usimamane in his Fuseg Mahhala Stayela.

Big Qhosh Music group responded on Lucasraps’ behalf with their own statement. The statement claims that the song leaked without the authorisation of either party involved.

The statement continued to urge the media and fans to hold back from sharing the leaked song.

“We kindly request that all bloggers, publicists and concerned parties to refrain from sharing or promoting this leaked material. As the rightful owners of this content, we ask for your cooperation in removing any links, posts or references to the unauthorised song with immediate effect.”

Lucasraps has since embodied the term ‘the show must go on’ as he has released his own version of the song without Usimamane. Fans and hip-hop lovers have given the song a thumbs up, unaffected by the controversy.

He spoke to Slikouronlife and explained that he only received a call from Usimamane’s team telling him to remove their artist’s verse from the song after he had sent the rollout to multiple people.

“When you roll out, I don’t know how some people work, but with me, I send songs to DJs, DJ packs, sometimes I send the audio to say on the day ‘Please can you rock this song wherever you’re gigging’,” Lucasraps explains the reason behind the leak.
