Concerns are mounting for Kwaito musician Sandile “Mapaputsi” Ngwenya’s health, as those close to him reveal that he has been unwell. As worries about his well-being grow, Mapaputsi’s family is seeking privacy during this difficult time.

A musician, who asked to remain anonymous, told TshisaLIVE that other artists were making attempts to support Mapaputsi and his family.

“We, as artists, want to show support for Mapaputsi and his family. However, we understood his family is protecting his privacy,” he said as he made attempts to visit the My Love artist after he heard of his condition.

Another source mentioned to the publication that Mapaputsi’s condition is worsening and frustrated that others are aware of his situation but have not stepped in to help, leaving the burden on his family.

Mapaputsi is currently in the care of his parents, another anonymous artist revealed plans for a benefit concert. The above publication’s attempts to contact Mapaputsi and his parents were unsuccessful. Trompies member Jarius mentioned his efforts to reach Mapaputsi, which were sometimes answered.

Mapaputsi has always been committed to helping others in the music community. He was among those who supported Zola 7 during his times of need and has expressed that he might also need help one day. Reflecting on his connection with Zola, he shared with Drum.

Mapaputsi also recounted his own experiences of needing support.

“I have also needed help in the past, I am a human being and money doesn’t last forever and sometimes your health needs attention. I also have times when I don’t have money or even data.”
