Unpacking Showmax series Red Ink

Showmax Originals relaunched many high-quality shows, including the thriller series Red Ink which premiered early this year and should be on your watchlist this year

This story is based on one of Angela Makholwa’s bestseller books Red Ink, and features a cast that produces a stellar performance in retelling the story.

Red Ink is a mysterious series about journalist Lucy Khambule who is played by SAFTA nominee Nqobile Nunu Khumalo where she finds herself entangled with serial killer Napoleon Dingiswayo who is portrayed by former The Wife actor Bonko Khoza

With the author being an executive producer in telling the story this eight-part series tells the story of a journalist who wants to tell the story of the serial killer through his eyes.

The plot twist is that Bonko’s character has a twin brother that he has to play both characters. Bonko is indeed an exceptional actor.

The thriller unravels people’s true intentions and that they aren’t always who they say they are.

If you loved the series ‘The Wife’, you will appreciate that the infamous Zulu brothers reunited again but this time under different conditions.

Kwenzo Ngcobo who portrays the character of Kagiso, plays the love interest of Lucy Khambule after she gets divorced from her husband whom she shares a child.

You need to know that you might be taken aback seeing corpses and illicit crime scenes, and there are a few steamy sex scenes in between to pump up your adrenaline.

The all-star cast also includes ‘Outlaws’ star Nirvana Nokwe-Mseleku, SAFTA winners Bongile Mantsai, Lorcia Cooper and Jo-Anne Reyneke, and the likes of Tsholofelo Maseko.

Catch Red Ink every Tuesday on Showmax Originals.
