Unathi Nkayi celebrates her 22-year career

Singer, media personality and former judge on Idols South Africa Unathi Nkayi recently celebrated a milestone in her career – 22 years in the entertainment industry.

The Hallo Sana singer took to Instagram to express her gratitude. Sharing a video of herself introducing the popular girl group Jamali, Unathi captioned the post, “GRATITUDE. 2004 I was pregnant with my firstborn as I hosted Pop Stars South Africa. Never in a million years would I have expected to have had such a wonderful career for this long. This morning let me thank you SouthAaa for your love over the last 22 years. Here’s to another 22 with you.”

Industry mates and fans took to Unathi’s comments section to give her flowers.

Rapper Yanga Chief said, “Since since since ???.”

Media personality Minnie Dlamini wrote, “I remember this!!! From watching you growing up to calling you an industry colleague and SISTER is ?.”

“BATHONG ?????❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️Now I know I am grown…I remember watching this and I was almost a teen by then..Whatever a throwback!!!Lord!!!??????♥️♥️♥️,” reminisced a fan.

While another commented, “My goodness! I was in Grade 4 and remember how I would impersonate you while my friends would be Jamali ? !!! Wow wow wow!!”

Unathi has experienced many highs and even lows in her career spanning more than two decades.

In 2021, Unathi was fired from the radio station Kaya 959. This year, she announced she will be suing her former employer while also documenting her legal battle.

“Through our production company, we’ve started shooting my documentary, and I promise I will tell you everything at the end of the case. I’ll share all documents and you’ll finally get both sides of the story,” she stated in an Instagram post.
