Unathi Nkayi set to host Basadi in Music Awards

by Sergio Miller

Singer and former South African Idols judge Unathi Nkayi is licking her lips as she prepares to make her return by hosting the Basadi in Music Awards.

The event focuses on celebrating female talent in the music industry. This includes individuals ranging from singers, songwriters, stylists and producers in an event that honours female excellence.

This year’s event which is set to take place on the 10th of August will see the singer make her return after doing a stellar job at last year’s awards ceremony, and she is overjoyed to have been granted the opportunity to do it all over again.

Speaking to the news and entertainment publication Daily Sun, Unathi said that being invited to return this year again has filled her with a deeper sense of joy.

“There’s magic that happens when you surround yourself with women chasing their dreams and breaking down barriers.”

Elaborating on what being host this year means to her she added:

“It’s a chance for me to celebrate the journeys of these incredible artists who inspire me daily.

“This year we will be reflecting on our own journeys, and embracing the strength we find in each other. It will be a night filled with the magic of music, the power of sisterhood and a celebration that will leave us all shimmering, long after the curtain falls.”

As Unathi has highlighted the night will allow women to have an inward reflection and celebration of how far they have come, and for that reason, the theme of the event will be “Girl in the Mirror.”
