‘Umkhokha: The Curse’ cast and crew face the hurdle of non-payments

Umkhokha: The Curse cast and Crew have not been paid their October salaries stemming from challenges with cash flow.

Mzansi was still reeling from shock to learn that one of the most viewed telenovelas will be discontinued next year. Entertainment commentator, Phil Mphela took to his X (formerly Twitter) page to break the news.

The statement issued by Rhythm World states that the payments will be made as soon as the funds are received.  The production house offered their apologies to their staff members for the inconvenience caused and further acknowledged the level of stress that the late notification may cause to them.

According to a letter sent by Rhythm World Productions yesterday to Umkhokha – The Curse cast and crew, October 2024 salaries will be delayed.

Umkhokha: The Curse cast includes Deli Malinga, Nay Maps, Sibonile Ngubane and Mbuso Khoza.

It has also been reported that the crew members of Bakwena Production’s Pound 4 Pound also faced financial woes due to non-payment.

The 13-part series set on the backdrop of boxing, features a star-studded cast which includes Mduduzi Mabaso, Zolisa Xaluva, Brandon Auret and Sne Mbatha.

Speaking to City Press, Brandon said: “They are using my intellectual property without it being paid for. I got a call from Rashaka saying they would be paying everybody by Wednesday this week (past Wednesday).”
