Ukhozi FM reveals Song of the Year rivalries

South Africa’s leading radio station Ukhozi FM has announced the Top 10 songs that had made it into the Song of the Year contenders. Crossing over into the year with the Song of the Year has become a huge tradition for South Africans and many of the prominent broadcast stations and TV channels.

While many South Africans thought there were more deserving songs that were supposed to be shortlisted, others were quire shocked as the list entailed songs that they barely even heard of during the course of the year.

Ukhozi FM has made the Ingoma Ehlukanisa Unyaka campaign a vibrant and exciting concept that many listeners and viewers can look forward to at the end of each year.

In a media statement shared by the SABC – a national broadcaster that operates television and radio stations – Business Manager at Ukhozi FM, Ms Shongi Ngcobo shared that “Ingoma Ehlukanisa Unyaka is a campaign that is close to listeners’ hearts and is a tradition that most of us grew up on.”

Sharing on the of the impact and influencers of listeners, she further explained “This campaign, like every other that the station implements relies strongly on listeners’ choices and participation. We all know that music is the soundtrack to our lives, and this is evident through the millions of listeners who participate in this campaign to decide which song takes us to 2024. Ukhozi FM is indeed the authority when it comes to crossing over into the new year, ABANYE ABATHULE.”

The SABC further elaborated Ingoma Ehlukanisa Unyaka campaign is a platform that “honours and acknowledges the exceptional musical contributions from artists across the nation.”

Supporters and listener are advised to vote for their favourite by casting their votes on the Ukhozi FM sms line 33665, To cast their votes listeners should SMS the word “INGOMA” and the letter of the song of their choice  to 33665.
