This weekend appeared to be a slimy affair when amapiano pop star, Tyla Seethal graced the stage as the first South African to host the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards.
The event took place at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California on Saturday and lived up to the expectation.
Known for her vibrant personality, Tyla appeared to blend seamlessly with the young crowd, ensuring that they were thoroughly entertained.
While her main role was to take centre stage as the host of the award ceremony, this did not limit her from receiving an accolade for her impressive talents.
Later at that event she received an award for Favourite Global Music Star (Africa). This is an award that gives recognition to musicians across the continent.
During her acceptance speech, she said: “Thank you guys so much. Literally this has been so fun. I’m so happy I came to the party with you guys. This was the best party ever.”
Meanwhile, no awards would be complete without the splashing of the signature green slime that the event is synonymous for. When her turn came, she encouraged staff to “Just do it,” before being covered in green slime.

Prior to the event she described the occasion as being a “full circle” moment after she previously auditioned to be part of the Nickelodeon team as a child.
“Hosting the Kids’ Choice Awards was a dream come true,” Tyla said. “It’s amazing to celebrate the artists and creators who inspire young people everywhere.”
