Tyla and Musa Keys are South Africa’s youngest Grammy nominees

Congratulatory messages that were filled with extreme joy and pride poured in from supporters from various social media platforms when the news of Tyla and Musa Keys being nominated for the 66th 2024 Grammy Awards broke.

Tyla and Musa Keys are two musical sensations that have set the record by being two of  South Africa’s youngest Grammy nominees as both these artists are nominated for Grammy Awards under the Best African Music Performance category.

The 23-year-old Musa Keys is a record producer who hails from Giyani. This amapiano powerhouse has had Mzansi dancing to many of his enchanting tunes such as Vula Mlomo, Selema , Thando Lwami, Inyembezi and many more other dance tunes.

Musa Keys has had a remarkable influence towards the amapiano genre as he rose to fame after the unleashing of his first solo single Samaritan Boy. Since then, he continues to create a spark through the amapiano genre in Mzansi with his popping beats and soulful melodies.

With her latest single – Water – that went viral and rose to international prominence instantly, Tyla has been a force that has been quite hard to miss within the entertainment industry scenes. The 21-year-old was on the top 10 charts of many countries as her single Water swept many music lovers off their feet and participating in the viral Water challenge that took over social media platforms .

Business Insider – a business site with financial, media, tech and other industry verticals – further shares that the Water hit single made it onto number 67 of the Billboard Hot 100 chart, making her the first South African soloist on the list since 1968. Singer and songwriter Tyla had her first breakthrough to fame in 2020 upon releasing her single Getting Late in 2019.
