Media personality Thato ‘TT’ Mbha has made an appeal to South Africans for matric farewell outfits to be donated to help make the special day memorable for less fortunate grade 12 pupils.

He took to social media and encouraged people to make donations. He also shared a picture of him back in 1996 during his matric dance. Thato said he was grateful to have been privileged enough to have been able to attend and wear a formal ensemble to his dance, however, he is aware of the sad reality that others faced.

“This was my matric dance look in 1996. It was one of my most special and memorable moments of my matric year. I was privileged enough to have parents who made sure that they worked hard to afford buying my formal matric dance ensemble, but the sad reality is that not every grade 12 boy has that privilege,” he wrote.

TT has partnered with Sorbet and Amatyma wellness network to launch the A Chance for a Dance drive that encourages people to give back.

“That’s why the @ttmbha and @amatyma_sa brands respectively agreed to partner with @sorbetgroup to bring priceless and timeless smiles to many underprivileged grade 12 boys out there, who also deserve to have a dignified and memorable matric dance,” he revealed.

He made an appeal for people to drop off their formal attire that is still in good condition at the Sorbet Group offices (6 Mellis Road, Rivonia).

“So gentlemen if you have suits, shirts, shoes, ties and formalwear accessories (still in good condition) that you no longer need or use, then kindly drop them off at the Sorbet Group offices (6 Mellis Road, Rivonia),” he wrote.
