Singer-songwriter Tshegofatso Ketshabile has detailed how one phone call from late rapper Riky Rick convinced him to stay off hard drugs.
Sharing a previous interview between the two talents, Ketshabile, professionally known as Tshego, wrote that the Cotton Fest organiser called him up while he was on a binger and blankly said, “Let us know if we should give up on you, Boizen.”
Explaining that he was on day 3 of his drug-induced trip, the Hennessy singer wrote: “That was the last day I touched hard drugs. I only told him that story years later.”

Tshego said he was the only one responsible for his destiny and how it played out. “Him saying those simple words reminded me that I started this for ME, and the only person I’d be disappointing is ME,” he added.
The accompanying video showed Riky praising his fellow artist and called him a “class act.”
Riky said, “You’ve never fed the fire. You’ve never thrown gas on it to make any situation that people say ‘worst sound, more hectic.’ You’ve never been adversarial to anybody. You did it the right way.”
Tshego’s rise to fame was phenomenal. In 2016, he broke onto the music scene with his hit single Hennessy and followed it up with his 2019 debut album Pink Panther.
Born in Atlanta, Georgia, the singer moved to Mafikeng at age 4 and later joined Def Jam Recordings as one of their promising artists.
When asked why he decided to pursue a music career, he said: “Simply because I fell in love with it.”
