The 33-year-old model, Tshego Gaelae has been crowned as the 40th Mrs World in an inaugural South African win in a ceremony held in Las Vegas in the USA, making Ishadi Amanda from Sri Lanka and Thailand’s Ploy Panperm the runner-ups.

The Mrs World pageant is known as a beauty contest for married women and was established in 1984. Hailing from Soweto, Tshego is an admitted attorney working as a Group B-BBEE & Labour Relations Manager. She is passionate about working with women and children who have survived domestic violence. The big-hearted Tshego also runs her own NGO, We Are Our Children’s Keepers which she runs with her circle of friends and family, which donates school essentials to school children.

Tshego enthusiastically took to her Instagram page to share her crowning. In her caption, she expressed her gratitude to Ishadi for being a friend, sister and roommate to her.

In an interview with Sowetan LIVE, Tshego revealed that she is dedicating her victory to her 17-year-old late niece who passed away recently.

“I decided to process with my family; I didn’t make it known to Mrs SA or Mrs World. I also didn’t publicise it because I wanted to process it with my family. I’m very sad that I won’t be at her funeral. I believe that God has a plan for everyone and everything.

“My niece was a bubbly personality, and I hope her spirit finds peace. I hope her mother and sisters find solace in knowing that God knows the plan he has for us and should trust and believe that everything is in God’s hands,” she said.
