With just two weeks to go, Cape Town’s Central Business District (CBD) will be echoing sounds of harmonious melodies and nostalgic tunes as some of the world’s most talented musicians gather for this year’s Cape Town International Jazz Festival.
The event is set to take place over two days, which is Friday, 25th of April, as well as Saturday, 26th of April. With the list of artists already having been revealed, the Cape Town International Convention Centre is where you need to be if you are in the mood and the month on an all-time high.
While performers like our very own Lira and Black Coffee are said to bring all the energy, the organisers of the event have recently announced that they will be catering to older Kwaito heads as well.
This year sees the addition of the legendary group TKzee. The group, which originally comprised of singers Kabello Mabalane, Zwai Bala and the late Tokollo Tshabalala, holds a special place in the hearts of several South Africans.
Since rising to prominence in the late 90s through to the early 2000’s they have done outstanding work in ensuring that South Africans had a good time by producing hits like Shibobo, Dlala Mapantsula, and many more.

This year’s event prides itself on its diversity with artists stretching across genres such as jazz, house, and many more.
Speaking about this year’s event, Lindsay Rhoda, Talent Manager at CTIJF, revealed that they were extremely proud of the lineup they assembled for this event.
“Our team has sourced the very best talents from across the jazz spectrum – from acid jazz to traphouse, psychedelic and spiritual jazz, and vibrant African sonic traditions. This is not just a showcase of styles – it’s a reflection of our continent’s creativity and the global pulse of jazz today. Now, we’re ready to share it with South Africa and the world,” she said.
