Vasti Spiller, boxing coach and author, shared a touching message of love and encouragement after her fiancé, Dricus du Plessis, lost his UFC middleweight championship to Khamzat Chimaev.
A tough night in Chicago
The title fight took place on Saturday, 16 August, at the United Center in Chicago. Chimaev, a Russian-Emirati mixed martial artist, delivered a dominant performance, defeating du Plessis with a unanimous 50-44 score. His victory set a record number of strikes and takedowns for a UFC middleweight title fight, extending his undefeated streak to 15-0.
While the loss was a difficult moment for du Plessis, Spiller took to Instagram to reassure her fiancé, writing, “My world. This is just the beginning.” Her words quickly drew attention, with many praising her for standing firmly by his side through both triumphs and setbacks.
