‘This is better’ mzansi reacts to Rasta’s painting of Don Mlangeni Nawa

Controversial artist Lebani Sirenje popularly known as Rasta seems to have improved his art, after his recent painting of the late actor Don Mlangeni Nawa impressed some internet users.

Rasta is a Zimbabwean born artist, who lives and works in South Africa. He is famous for his portraits, often of celebrities including those who have passed away.

Recently, Rasta the artist impressed many with his painting of Don, who was respectively laid to rest on Saturday. It was revealed in his funeral service that Don suffered from prostate cancer.

Known for his controversial paintings, Rasta’s painting skills has improved leading to many admitting that they are impressed. He proudly took to his Facebook page to share the pictures of his paintings alongside a heartfelt tribute to Don. In his post he said: “Rest in peace Don Mlangeni, you played your role and inspired a lot of performing artists. You are the pillar, may you rest.”

Rasta took pictures with other artists in front of his newly painted portrait of Don such as Warren Masemola.

While some internet users were not sold, many stated that they see the progress.

Facebook users weighed in.

One user said: “Good work big man, I give thanks.”

Another one said: “This is much better Rasta.”

While another one said: “Good work.”

Don was an iconic thespian who shared his talent with Mzansi with his great moments on screens such as on Hlala Kwabafileyo, Abomama, Shaka iLembe, Isidingo: The Need, Sgudi Snaysi and The Throne, to name a few.
