‘This gives me a bit of closure’ Costa Titch’s mother after autopsy report

by Sergio Miller

With the autopsy results finally bringing clarity to the cause of Costa Titch’s death, his mother Lara Langeveld has finally found closure.

The 28-year-old, whose real name is Costantinos Tsobanoglou, passed away just over a year ago during a performance at the Ultra Music Festival held at the Expo Centre in Johannesburg. But with his sudden passing, Lara was determined to get to the root of the cause.

In a previous interview with news and entertainment publication The South African, she explained how tough it was for her not to know what happened to her son.

While rumours at the time circulated that he had epilepsy, she dismissed them saying he never had any medical condition, I stead she believed that foul play was involved.

“I highly suspect someone hurt my son as he was not on chronic medication, and he was healthy,” she said.

On Monday a statement was released in which an autopsy revealed that the singer died due to significant strain on the heart which was unbeknown to him.

Compounded by stress and fatigue, this led to an irregular heartbeat which later triggered the seizure which claimed his life.

With the cause of death finally confirmed, Lara was interviewed by TshisaLive where she revealed that she had finally found closure.

“My priority was to find out what caused my son’s death. Society judges musicians by their appearance and people thought my son was in drugs. I know Costa hated drugs, we were very close,” she said.

She highlights that his downfall might’ve been that he loved what he did, which led him to travel to perform in 25 countries in one year, increasing the strain on his heart.

“I have come to accept this. This gives me closure. He has to rest now and at least it puts all these rumours with people saying drugs and all of that stuff off him.”
