Durban-based award-winning gospel star and pastor, Thinah Zungu saw the robber’s act of kindness while they were confined in their prayer room as an unexpected act of God.

The Ekugcineni singer and his family were recently robbed inside their house at gunpoint by unknown men who later broke out with their belongings including a vehicle that was recovered on the same day.

Recounting the ordeal, Thinah took to his Facebook page to share the details of the house robbery. The musician said one day after Passover he was tired and lazy when he asked his family to come upstairs for a prayer before bed. He recalls telling his family that from then onwards that would be where they hold their night prayers.

The gospel star said on the day of the ordeal, they were locked inside their prayer room and believes that is why no one was hurt.

Detailing his ordeal on Facebook he said one of the assailants kept him calm throughout the situation, and he kept calling him Manzini (his clan name) when they were asking for more staff to rob.

He recalled not feeling safe when that one thug was not in the room, “Whenever he goes out to the car I would not feel safe and I kept my head down all the time, but when I hear his voice I always knew we are still safe in this situation.

“I believe God used that man for our safety because a lot happened in those two hours, but all I know is God was with us,” he said.

Thinah said he was able to ask the thug to take out their passports from the car because they were going to need them soon. His wife was able to ask for water from him and he gave her, the thug also gave his wife a blanket to cover herself because she was not fully dressed.

The gospel star said before the thug left, his last words were: “Manzini ngiyaxolisa mfowethu ( I’m sorry my brother) please pray for me, I don’t like what I’m doing.”
