Multi-award-winning actor, Thembinkosi Mthembu has scored yet another leading role, this time on the upcoming telenovela produced by Tshedza Pictures, Homecoming.

Thembinkosi who currently plays the role of Dingiswayo Mthethwa on Shaka iLembe, will embody the character of Sifiso Kubheka, a police officer and a traditional healer.

The talented actor, who hails from KwaZulu-Natal first rose to fame in 2019, with his role on The Republic. He captured Mzansi with his acting prowess, leading him to scoring more roles on other shows such as on The River, Adulting and on Outlaws.

Tshedza Pictures is known for producing a number of telenovelas, including The River, iThonga, Gqeberha: The Empire and The Legacy among others.

Homecoming is set to take over from Sibongile and the Dlamini’s with its premier episode airing on July 28. It promises a riveting storyline that is rich in culture.

Set in the rural town of Bergville, the telenovela follows Zethu Hlongwane, a straight-A medical graduate hoping to become one of the country’s few black female surgeons.

But when things don’t turn out how she had hoped, with no job or placement, she is forced to return to the village she left behind. There, Zethu finds herself at the crossroads of two worlds, that of Western medicine and traditional healing, when she meets Sifiso. The police officer and traditional healer challenges everything she thought she knew about love, healing and home.

Entertainment commentator, Jabulani Macdonald, took to his X (formerly Twitter) to share the news.

Producer, Lulu Hela said: “Homecoming is a deeply meaningful project for us. The title reflects a return to the places, people and practices that shaped us. At the heart of this story is a powerful conversation between traditional and western medicine, two worlds often seen in opposition. Viewers can expect a rich, character-driven story that challenges, heals, and sparks conversation.”

The telenovela boasts a star-studded cast that includes Sipho Manzini, Khombi Phetla, Mpilo Mbatha, Khayalethu Xaba and Amahle Khumalo.
