Media personality and businessman Somizi Mhlongo recently went live on his Instagram to share his views on political parties ahead of the upcoming elections.
Confused like some South Africans who are not sure who to vote for in the elections set to take place in less than 24 hours, Somizi invited political party representatives from all big political parties with some confirming they would join while some promised to get back to him.
The conversation started with the former IdolsSA judge sharing that used to be a proud member of the ANC who wouldn’t think of voting for anyone else as his love for the party was rooted on many sentimental things.
He then started speaking of the 30 years that the party has had to lead the country, questioning if it was enough to expect them to correct wrongs of the apartheid government which date back over 300 years ago.
The father of one added, “I don’t think that’s fair, but also we don’t know because there hasn’t been anyone’s who has led the country and broken the record, maybe in 15 years or 20 years, and fixed the country within 30 years.”
He further shared, “Maybe 30 years is not enough but 30 years plus corruption dilutes the amount of time that it is supposed to take to get things to order.”
Somizi’s stressed that the ANC’s inability to hold those at the top and bottom accountable for their corrupt behaviour is just too much to handle.
Moving on to share his views of other big parties, the Living The Dream with Somizi reality TV star went on to speak about the DA, sharing:
“For me the DA… I will never vote for the DA. Cape Town, lets state facts, is not designed or governed for a black person. Lets call a spade a spade, the thought of voting for the DA takes me back to apartheid and that is me, and I know I’m not the only person who feel like that. When I to go Cape Town, I don’t feel like I’m home.”
He added that what he sees before the plane lands in Cape Town in the Mother City and where he goes to stay are two different worlds. He further stated that we cannot keep quiet about Cape Town’s social class division, where black and coloured people are at the bottom from white people.
