‘That’s the person I want to spend the rest of my life with’ – DJ Fresh

Radio presenter and media personality Thato Sikwane, popularly known as DJ Fresh, has recently opened up about the scariest parts of being a single man for the first time.

The 51-year-old has always been open about some of his relationship changes over the years after having openly shared that he and the mother of his children, Thabiso Sikwane, were going through a divorce in 2022.

The proud parents of three released a joint statement revealing that they had been separated since the start of lockdown.

Despite their breakup, the two remained good friends and business partners, but this has not stopped Fresh from continuing with his dating life.

In a sit-down interview on his podcast, WAW! What A Week with DJ Fresh, Fresh confesses that for the first time, he finds himself single and claims that his recent breakup is one of his scariest experiences.

“The thing that scares me is that I’ve never had an opportunity not to be in a relationship. The last six weeks for me have been the most exciting and scariest time of my life because I do not know not having to account to someone.”

Despite being married to Thabiso for nearly 20 years, he says what made his recent break-up especially scary is that he broke up with someone who he genuinely wanted to spend the rest of his life with.

“I still believe that’s the person I want to spend the rest of my life with, but because things happened the way they did — and I’m not going to even point fingers, I think we both f*cked up — I think choosing that I don’t want to be in a relationship, for now, is probably the scariest thing I’ve decided because I haven’t done it in a while.”
