Amapiano artist Thatohatsi Raphadi broke many hearts when she responded with a tearful video to the body shaming comments made on the Piano Pulse podcast.
During their conversation on the podcast, music executive Nota Baloyi said: “Thatohatsi’s body does not look amazing.” This led to others commenting, and Sifiso, one of the podcast hosts, adding that even if Thatohatsi could eat junk food everyday, she would not gain weight. Her body is meant to be slim.
The Amapiano artist took to her TikTok page to share a distressing video of her evidently sad, with the comments shared by Piano Pulse hosts playing in the background. The video had a message that read: “If they knew how long it took for I to love me and live looking like this.” Captioning her post, she said: “Not suicidal but I wouldn’t mind at this point. I don’t think I wanna continue living like this.”

The podcast holds conversations about the Amapiano music genre, culture and artists. The hosts have previously been in hot water for speaking ill of Gigi Lamayne during a conversation where they compared her to Lootlove.

I dont want to say much but i completely empathise with Thatohatsi. And im absolutely gutted that their comments affected her. I hope commentary in amapiano goes past peoples attributes and we focus on the art form and everything that surrounds it.
